Standardized Test Methods
The Gesellschaft für Akustikforschung Dresden mbH performs a high number of standardized test methods to measure characteristic values and parameters specific to machines, constructional elements and materials. On the one hand, these are directly requested of our customers. On the other hand, they serve our engineers to design and optimize measures for noise reduction and control.
The essential acoustic properties include e. g. the sound power of machines and devices, the sound absorption coefficient and the airflow resistance of sound absorbers and other open-cell materials, the airborne sound insulation of separating constructional elements, the insertion loss of noise barriers and enclosures as well as the transmission loss and the insertion loss of mufflers and silencers.
Relevant vibrational parameters represent e. g. the natural frequencies of machines and constructional elements, the bending loss factor of coatings applied for damping structure-borne sound as well as the structure-borne sound isolation of vibration isolators.
Thermal quantities that are regularly asked for are e. g. the specific heat capacity of isolating materials in combination with the gross density (geometrical density) and the true density (density of sceleton) as well as the thermal conductivity of separating constructional elements and isolating materials.
To perform the measurements, besides the required measurement equipment, different laboratory test setups as well as special acoustic and thermal test environments are available. This includes e. g. a reverberation chamber and an unechoic chamber, test setups for doors, windows, walls and ceilings, test setups for mufflers and silencers as well as a climate chamber.
