Design and optimization of properties of road surface
During the development of novel road surfaces, the company can support you with the design and the optimization of acoustic properties of the road surface, e. g.
- acoustic design of open porous asphalts, modeling by means of „Phenomenological model” as well as own developed models to describe the structure (input parameter: grading curve)
- vibrational design of rubber-modified road surfaces as well as road surfaces with intermediate elastic layer
Measurement of properties of road surface
The measurements carried out by the company to determine various properties of the road surface include:
- evaluation of noise emission of road surface by means of statistical pass-by method (SPB measurement) according to EN ISO 11819-1 (determination of SPB index / DStrO value)
- evaluation of noise emission of road surface by measurement of tire/road noise by means of close proximity method (CPX measurement) according to DIN EN ISO 11819-2
- Testing of specifications and requirements of test tracks (especially texture and sound absorption coefficient) for measuring noise emitted by road vehicles and their tires according to DIN ISO 10844
- determination of sound absorption coefficient at core samples of open porous road surfaces in the laboratory according to DIN EN ISO 10534-2 with impedance tube AcoustiTube®
- determination of airflow resistance at core samples of open porous road surfaces in the laboratory on the basis of the direct-airflow method described in DIN EN 29053 (ISO 9053) with airfow resistivity meter AcoustiFlow®
- determination of sound absorption coefficient of open porous road surfaces in situ according to DIN ISO 13472-1 with sound absorption measuring device AcoustiAdrienne
- determination of sound absorption coefficient of closed porous road surfaces in situ according to DIN ISO 13472-2 with impedance tube AcoustiTube®
- determination of effective specific airflow resistance / permeability between tire and road surface in situ on the basis of the static-airflow method described in DIN EN ISO 9053-1 with airfow resistivity meter AcoustiFlow®, e. g. as input parameter of calculation models for predicting the noise emission of road surfaces
- determination of texture of the road surface in situ by means of laser texture measuring system, e. g. as input parameter of calculation models for predicting the noise emission of the road surface
- determination of mechanical input impedance of the road surface in situ, e. g. as input parameter of calculation models for predicting the noise emission of the road surface
- determination of water permeability of open porous asphalts in situ to estimate the strength of the air-pumping effect as well as the weathering and the clogging of open porous asphalts
- Testing the lighting properties of asphalt (e.g. mastic asphalt layer in tunnels) according to the working paper on reflection properties of aggregates and surfaces made of asphalt
